Nuclear technologists who work at nuclear sites and industrial installations may work longer hours depending upon working requirements. Nonetheless, nuclear technologists are eligible for standard benefits such as holidays, paid vacations, sick leave, and other benefits. Many employers even refund tuition fees for their employed technologists.

Nuclear technologists typically begin their careers as assistant technologists and rise to associate and senior positions. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, even though the current number of nuclear professionals in the United States is sufficient for the number of openings in the sector, nuclear technology will continue to attract technologists who have specialized experiences and skills.
