The responsibilities of a software project manager consist of defining and documenting the program processes, overseeing program requirement and changes needed, supervising the program scope and budget, preparing status reports of the program, developing procedures for process improvement and quality improvement of the project, establishing and maintaining customer relationship as well as monitoring administrative work associated with the project which includes billing, correspondence and meetings and ensuring their effective and efficient implementation.
A software project manager should possess very good analytical skills and should be skilled and experienced at design and development of software projects and products. A software project manager is expected to possess strong troubleshooting and optimization skills, expertise on Microsoft Technologies including Web Applications development and products, knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint as well as Knowledge of SEI-CMM standard and software quality testing methodologies & tools. This position demands strong customer service skills, strong documentation skills and ability to transform business requirement into software products & services as well as very good interpersonal and communication skills.
