The applications development manager is responsible for the management of multiple projects and the establishment of QA standards and procedures. He or she supervises all design, development, and implementation activities related to information systems and software applications; maintenance and upgrading of existing systems and applications; and recruitment, training, and evaluation of software engineers, QA executives, QC officers, programmers, applications development interns, applications programmers, systems analysts, project managers, applications developers, and applications development specialists.
Applications development managers generally have bachelor\'s degrees in computer science and engineering or information technology or equivalent computer applications qualifications. Five-plus years of progressively responsible experience in current programming environments is expected. A strong background in more than one of the following areas may be required: Java, C, C++, ASP, .NET, SQL, MySQL, HTML, and XML.
