Our Tukwila, WA client has an immediate need for an experienced Development Manager. The Development Manager will be a leader on a team working for an industry leading partner and supplier to farmers around the country, and helping drive the development of a major new cloud service that will enable America's farmers to raise their crops more efficiently, while also managing their lands more sustainably. The application service has the potential to dramatically change the ways farmers work. The Development Manager will be working on a new cloud-based, geospatially aware business application that is delivered via Internet and mobile and incorporates sophisticated predictive capabilities based on big data analysis. This person will be responsible for the entire development and deployment the software, working with both internal and external resources to make it happen.
We're looking for a leader who has the technical depth, organizational skills, and customer focus to create the framework for this key project and see it through delivery. This position works independently and exhibits a high degree of initiative in resolving problems related to the application. Critical analysis, excellent communication skills, and accountability are critical success factors.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Lead and direct the daily activities of the software development team, assisting individuals with establishing their growth and training objectives and continuously monitoring and evaluating their progress toward achieving these goals
• Manage the technical delivery of work products from outside vendors
• Mentor other technology team members in development best practice and software design
• Define, establish, and enforce development standards, guidelines, tools and processes in order to ensure consistency and quality across development projects.
Qualifications:
• Expert level experience with the .NET framework and/or the LAMP stack in developing and deploying commercial software. This includes components such as PHP, Python, Apache, MySQL, and Linux
• Expert level experience with JavaScript/JQuery, SQL Server, SOA, and web development
• 7 years of overall Information Technology or Software Engineering experience
• 3 years of that experience is with enterprise/web software
• Experience with relational database design
• Experience with Agile project management techniques
• B.S. in Computer Science, related field of study or equivalent experience
• Experience delivering geospatial mapping solutions a plus
