Monsanto is currently looking for an innovative individual interested in contributing at inception to the Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) Mobility and Web strategy. The Mobility & Web Architect is a key member of a dynamic team of highly skilled individuals focused on designing, implementing, and governing the mobility and web strategy for an R&D IT group.
The ideal candidate will facilitate organizational change and drive towards an industry leading mobility and web strategy, engaging individuals at all levels of the TPS organization as well as the broader Monsanto community. Responsible for defining and implementing the technology strategy across Web and Mobile platforms, the Mobility/Web Architect will research and bring current industry trends to the table, evaluating them for both risk and fit to business requirements. This position requires a unique blend of skills and experience in the areas of infrastructure, mobile middleware, networking, security, and mobile application development.
Responsibilities include:
Design, deliver, and document multi-platform architecture with a focus on architectural standards, growth, performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security
Identify architectural risks and plans to mitigate
Define, apply, and drive the use of patterns, best practices, and standards
Ensure strategies, standards, and reference architectures are consistent and well integrated
Analysis of current skill sets, gaps, and how to evolve for mobile and web expansion
Provide technical leadership:
Consult on architecture direction and design issues as well as influence peers, cross-functional partners, and management
Assist project teams in designing scalable, extensible, cost effective solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements
Mediate opposing viewpoints among project teams, peers, and IT directors and articulate the advantages of a technology solution
Make or facilitate decisions where needed while maintaining positive relationships
Partner with other IT organizations to develop/sustain the business and IT strategy
Maintain industry awareness and knowledge of the latest tools and technologies
Support strategic proposal activities by architecting winning technical solutions, developing solution diagrams, specifying the technical solution elements required, and estimating implementation resource requirements
Achieve a high-level understanding of the business and the business priorities, strategies, and current capabilities
Required skills/experience:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
10 years experience in application design and development
2 years experience in mobile/web application development
Demonstrate past experience in the following areas:
Application development using either JAVA, ObjectiveC, or HTML 5
Mobile security
Mobile device management
Mobile devices
Wireless communication
Operating systems and related technologies for IOS, Android, Windows Mobile
Agile development
Integrating mobility management solutions with other corporate systems (eg. Active Directory, exchange)
Demonstrate in depth understanding of:
Leading edge architecture and design patterns, programming practices, development standards, and testing methodologies
Industry trends, development products and environments, as well as best practices for mobile application design and development
Mobile device and application security vulnerabilities and technical solutions to mitigate them
Demonstrated ability to:
Create a project plan, manage deadlines against that plan, and deliver quality results
Work effectively within a matrix culture
Communicate complex, technical concepts to executive staff, business sponsors, and internal resources in clear, concise language that is tailored to each group
