Job Functions:
Responsible for the design, management and support of MySQL databases for critical custom applications.
Management of development, test and production environments.
Define and implement backup and recovery solutions. With thought giving to high availability and disaster recovery planning. Installation of database software patches/upgrades.
Standardization and implementation of databases to improve the management of production and test
environments
Develop and optimize MySQL database designs for new applications
Monitor data storage volumes for capacity planning and with resource projections.
Monitor and optimize databases for performance.
Monitor data storage volumes for capacity planning and with resource projections.
Monitor and optimize databases for performance Work with development groups on assigned projects
Perform in-depth maintenance and tuning.
Participate in an off-hours on-call rotation

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert experience in MySQL support
Experience with clusters
Expert experience with Replication (MM && MS)
Expert in high availability solutions using MySQL
Expert in monitoring and maintenance of databases, database backups, Expert in resolving problems with applications databases.
Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
Ability to work under pressure; must have multi-tasking capabilities
Installation and troubleshooting of db software packages
Strong experience in problem troubleshooting and db monitoring operations
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong self-starter.
Must be experienced working in a team environment.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience with code troubleshooting tools such as strace and gdb and network troubleshooting with tools such as tcpdump
Experience with configuration management such as Puppet or CF Engine
Experience with with version control systems such as Subversion, Git, Mercurial
Experience with systems and network monitoring software configurations
Ruby and/or Python knowledge a major plus
