UDB/Oracle Database Administrator Manager

THIS IS A CONTRACT TO HIRE POSITION
Major Duties
Work with engineers to determine where the databases will reside in multi-tier distributed/shared applications, comparing hardware/infrastructure alternatives in conjunction with cost, use, growth, supportability, etc.
Define database authorization rules, perform security audit, and perform platform assessment regarding proper support for the selected databases. Read and implement entity-relationship diagrams.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously and engage in problem solving on these projects. Collaborate with application architects, product managers, business analysts and technical management team to design, develop and document databases, schemas, tables, functions, triggers, procedures, relationships and other necessary aspects of the database.
Design and develop complex data models from high level business requirements.
Must be able to provide design options, alternatives and recommendations based on experience and best practices for database design.
Establish standards for documentation and ensure that all designs are documented.
Description
UDB DBA leader with hands on experience in database architecture and physical design from several aspects:
physical data model, database infrastructure requirements, product integration requirements as well as installation of new servers/databases to meet expectations and requirements of the business.
Proven experience working as a database engineer and database administrator with database optimization, database infrastructure design and coding responsibilities within the OS and Database. Must have hands-on DB2 UDB V9 experience with latest tuning and optimization techniques.
Solid knowledge of the AIX platform; Linux and Windows a plus.
Working knowledge of Oracle V.10g or higher would be a good add.
Skill Set
In depth experience with DB2 UDB V9x database installation, configuration and upgrade on AIX platform;
Linux and Windows a plus.
7 years of DB2 UDB database technology experience.
Table space management of DPF databases.
Excellent knowledge of Database backup and recovery of very large databases, typically multi terabytes.
Expert level of performance and tuning skills.
Excellent knowledge of UDB database/instance tuning, optimizing complex SQL statements for best possible performance.
Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multiple UDB version, instances with multiple operating system platform.
Good scripting skills to create and maintain shell scripts to automate various database related tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good to have skills
Oracle 11g experience with latest tuning and optimization techniques.
Database administration skills on 11g RAC, ASM in Linux, AIX and/or Solaris environments
