Overview: Kindle is a revolutionary reading device and one of the most innovative businesses at Amazon. The Kindle team is seeking creative software engineers who take great pride in both the technical and business contribution of their work. This is a recently formed team tasked with delivering a new, customer-facing Kindle program. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of technologies while writing Kindle device software and building large-scale back-end services. You will own major deliverables end-to-end, work closely with other teams and scale our services as the business grows. This is a high visibility team where you will get a chance to make positive impact on customer experience. Qualifications: * Strong CS fundamentals. * Strong OO design and coding skills in Java or C . * Experience building large scale, high-performance, reliable systems in a complex, multitiered, distributed environment. * Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment. * Excellent technical, problem solving and communication skills * A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field with 3 years of experience is required. * Hands-on experience developing with Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML Web Services. Perl, MySQL, Oracle, and Linux is a plus.
