Description Currently, Meijer is looking for a Senior Systems Coordinator. The individual selected for the position will be responsible for developing solutions for use in a wide variety of areas: Web, CRM, e-learning or other applications. Works alone and as a team member to create these applications. Also works with database management and other technical staff to ensure that objects are accessible through the appropriate database and application delivery systems. This individual works with a variety of internal personnel across functional domains (both end users and other IT staff) to ensure a high-level of support, and is comfortable in one or more computing environments (e.g., Unix, OS/390, Windows, intranet, Web). Senior Systems Coordinators act as internal consultants, providing technical guidance or business process expertise on the most complex projects or researching strategic planning matters from a technical or business standpoint. Senior Systems Coordinators act as subject matter experts in the business areas to which they are assigned, in terms of both business applications and business processes. Senior Systems Coordinators are familiar with project management techniques and will normally lead projects or large subprojects. They possess good coaching skills. A key component of the Senior Systems Coordinator is to gather requirements for the assigned project phases and recommend the technical strategies and tactics that will assist the business in achieving its goals. The person in this role also applies broad knowledge of various technical functions to accurately anticipate organizational impacts. The Senior Systems Coordinator must understand the procedures and expected system performance associated with the introduction of new information technologies, while seeking ways to collaborate with other IT members to facilitate transitions. Shares responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time, high quality product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a team member. As a Senior Systems Coordinator you will:
Provide business analysis and programming knowledge within an assigned business unit/area, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design and development of business applications * Formulate and definie application scope and objectives; devise and modify procedures to solve business problems * Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written, and designing, code, test, debug and document programs * Develope business relationships and integrate activities with other IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts * Lead large projects using the Meijer Methodology or regularly coaching other project personnel to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices * Evaluate and implement software packages * Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions * Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels * Design and develop applications according to established IT standards * Create, modify and test programming code * Define, design and build database schema to address specific issues and needs * Build comprehensive documentation for all compiled code and processes * Anticipate and create technical options to support IT operations and business objectives * Oversee the development of business applications utilizing off-shore and other contracted resources * Lead project teams
Qualifications Education:
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training is required
In order to be considered for this opportunity you must possess:
* Minimum of 6 years of technical experience in the skill areas listed above * Broad technical knowledge, with hands-on experience coordinating systems development in established and new computing architectures and environments (e.g., client/server, Web); knowledge of relevant technology, tools, databases and middleware is critical * Strong knowledge of business areas * Knowledge and experience in developing and supporting large systems or many smaller systems * Knowledge of design, programming and testing * Understanding of and ability to program relational database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, and DB2 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent project management skills * Strong leadership skills within team * Strong team building skills * Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills * Knowledge and experience in developing and supporting large systems or many smaller systems * Knowledge of design, programming and testing * Understanding of and ability to program relational database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, and DB2 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent project management skills * Strong leadership skills within team * Strong team building skills * Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills * Knowledge and experience in PeopleSoft Design/Tools Facility * Knowledge and experience in PeopleSoft Query Tools * Knowledge and experience in Mainframe and UNIX platforms * Payroll knowledge and experience is a plus.
