Information Security Specialist Jobs
The essential functions of an information security specialist are maintaining internet filtering software, and designing, analyzing, implementing, documenting and maintaining the Security Event Management or Security Information Management systems of the company in order to ensure the safety of the information assets of the company. The responsibilities of an information security specialist also consist of maintaining and updating virus protection software, identifying the areas where the information security policies and procedures need changes and developing and implementing the needful security plan, maintaining computer related policies and procedures, performing information system audit as well as coordinating and maintaining the software licensing agreements. An information security specialist should demonstrate good understanding of host and network intrusion detection and monitoring principles, Windows and Unix platforms and. Log4J, C, and Perl libraries
A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Law, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice is required for this position along with a technical degree in Computer Science or Management Information System. The position of an information security specialist demands strong technical documentation skills, strong fundamental knowledge of networks, ports, protocols, and infrastructure setup and strong database security knowledge specifically database activity monitoring tools i.e. Guardium, Imperva along with experience in this domain.
