SUMMARY

Bering Straits Information Technology, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Information Assurance Specialist – SMSe A/ISSO in Washington, DC. This position will Support DOS, DS, and the Office of Security Technology in implementing security controls on SMSe. Work closely with customer, operations team management, and DOS IA personnel to guide paperwork through approval process, and maintain configuration baseline of approved SMSe implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare documentation for all system changes and upgrades

Identify, report, and resolve security violations.

Apply expertise to Government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures. 

Perform vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.

Ensure that all information systems are functional and secure.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Must have three (3) to five (5) years of direct experience.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret level security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Experience to perform analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures.

Experience with integration and implementation of the computer system security solution.

Ability to analyze general information assurance-related technical problems and provide basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems.

Preferred

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical agility test (PAT) and annually thereafter as prescribed by the government.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities required

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
