Profile

SUMMARY:
Open position for an experienced DB2 UDB DBA in a Linux or Unix environment to support mission critical infrastructure of large financial services organization. This individual will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including installing, configuring, and maintaining database and middleware systems, writing relevant processes and procedures, scripting, and support. Experience with data replication and ETL tools is desirable and this position will provide the opportunity to acquire expert skills using Informatica and other enterprise data integration tools. Rotating 24x7 oncall support will be required.
TECHNICAL:
Database administration experience using DB2 UDB Version 9 or 10 on Linux (or other Unix variant)
Creation and maintenance of database objects (tables, columns, indexes, etc)
Setup and support database utilities including BACKUP, RESTORE, REORG, RUNSTATS, EXPORT, LOAD, EXPLAIN
Experience with data replication, middleware, integration and ETL tools (Informatica, Datastage, IBM SQL and Queue Replication, Infosphere CDC, etc) is strongly preferred
Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling design concepts
Monitoring and troubleshooting skills encompassing the “big picture” environment of databases, operating systems, applications, app servers, networks, etc.
Ability to write moderately complex shell scripts (using ksh, perl, php, etc) for database maintenance automation and testing
Performance tuning experience using DB2 UDB internals, database snapshots and SQL cache analysis
Ability to make decisions and demonstrate problem solving skills, analysis, prioritization and risk taking; Proactively raise and resolve issues
Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others; be able to clearly explain complex technical issues to business analysts and end users
Effectively represent the database team in application development projects
Ability to plan and execute a project to completion
Demonstrate personal ownership of assignments
Strong ability to multitask
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree required
Three or more years experience in a Database Administrator or System Administrator role supporting a 24*7 business production environment.
IBM Certification a plus
