Description
The Development DBA is responsible for designing, creating and maintaining high quality enterprise level systems necessary to support the needs of the business. The individual will be a self starter with superior technical skills, and an ability to formulate an approach for delivering on complex initiatives. They will have a strong sense of project ownership, and must be able to effectively communicate objectives and status with other DBA-s, developers, testers, project managers, and management.
Essential Functions:
- Authors T-SQL Scripts, Stored Procedures, Rules, and Triggers
- Reviews database code to insure that it performs optimally and adheres to company standards
- Recommends changes for any database updates made by Developers
- Advise/mentor/train developers in database practices and techniques
- Maintain version history for database objects
- Author clear and effective technical analysis and technical design documentation
- Support multiple Scrum teams to produce quality deliverables
- Support QA as needed in the execution of their work as it relates to the databases
- Maintain DEV and QA DB environments to insure consistency throughout the group
- Provide system support as necessary, including but not limited to after hours on-call support
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Sponsors to ensure business requirements and functional specifications are complete and consistent
- Participate in code reviews and peer reviews
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
- Restore & recover corrupted databases
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate-s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years' experience as a Development DBA or similar role
- Experience working in a Sybase ASE environment is preferred
- Experience developing stored procedures, triggers and SQL queries using Transact-SQL
- Experience with query optimization strategies, concurrency management, locking contention, isolation levels, and database performance
- Experience with data modeling and schema design
- Experience with recognized industry patterns, methodologies, and techniques
- Working knowledge of Agile development environments
- Proven track record of delivering quality deliverables
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- SSRS development is preferred
- Financial / Brokerage Institution experience is preferred
- A Bachelor-s degree in computer science is preferred
