Computer Systems Analyst III

to join their team. The individual assigned to this position will be a senior programmer and systems analyst support person. This position will primarily develop web-based, front-end systems that interface with Banner. This position is responsible for long-range planning, design, evaluation, implementing, maintaining, documenting and supporting software at the UM. The Computer Systems Analyst III is expected to research and resolve problems in the production systems quickly and effectively (while providing high level consultation and courteous customer support). The Computer Systems Analyst III develops procedures for programming, analysis and documentation.

The Computer Systems Analyst III will manage small to large projects and perform tasks in all phases of the systems development life cycle; work with project steering committees and task forces; apply advanced/expert analysis and project management tools to manage multiple projects; analyze and program projects to completion; create functional and technical design documentation; write and test program code; create and manage databases; take development projects from concept to implementation; and provide ongoing support including system administration and security administration. The incumbent will ensure availability and integrity of data to meet the information needs of the University; plan and implement multi-campus production processing, reporting, analysis and system interfaces; translate technical explanations and solutions; analyze if the solution is appropriate.

The Computer Systems Analyst III designs the look and layout of websites and web applications in accordance with University guidelines and policies. This position involves the understanding of graphic and user experience design, as well as web accessibility best practices. In addition, the position requires knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) with the ability to write, edit, and maintain CMS websites.

This position involves public speaking, presenting, and instructing of solutions to audiences of various backgrounds and technical competency. The position gives presentations that are engaging, informative, and concise.

This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to fill in for other team members when they are gone. The incumbent will need to have basic helpdesk support knowledge.

This position requires incumbent to develop working knowledge of new technologies and maintain technical currency.

Required Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management and analysis.

Considerable knowledge and experience of programming methods and procedures in one or more computer languages such as: C#, Java or C .

Considerable knowledge and experience of programming methods and procedures in one or more and web authoring languages including: PHP, Classic ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript (AngularJS, Angular), HTML5, CSS and Bootstrap.

Considerable knowledge of relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Access and associated toolset, especially SQL and PL/SQL.

Understanding of systems design and development, application development, web development and maintenance.

Strong ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and quickly identify problems and find solutions.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Strong ability to work independently.

Strong time management and multitasking skills, and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and share knowledge with peers.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of web accessibility technology and best practices including semantic HTML, WCAG, and ARIA.

Knowledge of Content Management Systems and the ability to write and edit content, use plugins, and maintain websites.

Knowledge of graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Ability to design and mock up websites, design logos, and edit pictures.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making.

Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, handle interruptions and manage multiple tasks with deadlines.

Ability to act as a technical consultant and train technical staff on new technologies.

Ability to complete projects on time.

Ability to learn new technologies and maintain technical currency.

Minimum Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with unit and automation testing techniques.

Experience with IDEs like Visual Studio and/or Eclipse.

Experience with Object Relations Mapping such as the Entity Framework.
