Profile

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining production and non-production databases and replication servers. This includes planning, installation and configuration of Oracle databases and related software, as well as RedHat Linux server administration. This position will be involved in performing database requirement analysis, configuration, creation and maintenance of Oracle databases/instances, assisting with schema management, security management and implementation of backup/recovery strategies. A strong understanding of RedHat Linux along with system administrator experience is required.
Provide daily support to business customers and application team members to assist them with writing SQL statements, procedures, and packages. Provide pro-active and re-active performance tuning within the database. Design, maintain, and review automated enterprise monitoring solution for all databases in regard to critical thresholds, alerts, and errors. Guide the UNIX/Linux team with RedHat administration best practices.
This position is accountable for the security and integrity of all Pier 1 Imports data. Access to financial and payroll systems and backup/recovery systems inherently creates risk, which could result in loss of business operations or confidential data, requiring a person of high values and integrity. Periodic reports of systems operations and status are essential to the company for maintaining regulatory compliance. This position will collaborate with team members and managers in other infrastructure teams and applications teams to maintain systems and will maintain responsibility for training and mentoring lower level Oracle database administrators. In addition, this person will also assist in the administration of Linux servers and mentor the existing team on best practices with RedHat Linux.
Required Skills:
Proficient in Oracle, RedHat Linux, Oracle ASM, Oracle RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager. General understanding of Microsoft Office, AIX, FTP, SSH, Korn shell, SQL, PL/SQL, NetBackup, ESP, basic network skills, PeopleSoft, My Oracle Support.
