The Senior Software Engineer codes software applications based on business requirements and completes administration tasks within the ServiceNow platform as required. The Senior Software Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer develops coding solutions for business logic in the ServiceNow platform as needed and standardizes the quality assurance procedure for developed solutions. Provides support for ServiceNow administration tasks in the ServiceNow platform as required. Delivers solutions for integrating the ServiceNow platform with other applications through recommended integration design patterns. Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes, delivers on application creation, application table design, creating and implementing forms, controlling access, and integrating workflows into applications. Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed with minimal supervision. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

This role ensures that recommended solutions increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT Service Management processes. Analyzes, collaborates and assists with translating business requirements into technical requirements to ensure a smooth implementation of new enhancements, applications or modules.

Planning, Analysis, and Design

Understand business purpose of software solution requests

Contribute to major feature planning

Contribute to process of estimating costs for proposed solutions

Design solutions to meet objectives (data structures, system processes, services, user interfaces, etc.)

Work with architecture team to explore new tools, techniques, etc. to improve solution delivery

Development, Integration, Testing and Implementation

Mentor contractors and team members and guide any software engineering tasks

Prepare comprehensive test cases for functional and regression testing plans

Assist end users with UAT as needed

Prepare detailed deployment plans to include rollback

Contribute to system disaster recovery planning, documentation and execution

Prepare system documentation as directed

Required Qualifications

ServiceNow ITSM

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and/or relevant work experience

5 or more years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer in large IT projects

Participate in or lead after business-hour deployments (includes both nights and weekends )

Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude

Strong communication skills with ability to interact with business and customer representatives

Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
