Description

The Senior Cloud Architect leads the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platforms related to cloud computing. The Senior Cloud Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Senior Cloud Architect performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications for cloud computing environments. Develops specifications for new IT cloud computing products and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications:

Degree in computer science/information systems, engineering or related field preferred; or a corresponding number of years' experience in technical operations or software engineering.

5 years of experience designing and implementing at least 1 of the following data platforms - MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL

2 years of experience designing and implementing at least 1 of the following data event/streaming platforms - Azure Data Factory, Apache Kafka & Streamsets, Azure Streaming Analytics

Demonstrable experience applying data design and architectural principles and methodologies

5 yrs of delivering enterprise grade solutions such as robust e-commerce, online businesses in a 24X7 production environment.

Certification on 1 major cloud provider platform - Microsoft Azure, Google GCP, Amazon AWS

Desired Experience

3 years working on Agile teams

3 years' experience with Linux system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security procedures; experience with Windows is a plus

3 years' experience with relevant scripting languages or programming frameworks desired - BASH, PowerShell, NodeJS, etc

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing data platforms with key value, column oriented, and document store non-relational database systems

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing data platforms with relational database systems

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing data pipelines with event-driven / streaming data platforms

Demonstrable experience designing solutions in data centers and cloud using automation platforms like Terraform

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing database security including on wire and at rest encryption

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing high availability redundancy strategies for data-centric systems

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing Disaster Recovery patterns and implementation.

Excellent architectural & systems design documentation skills

Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting systems issues and effectively diagnosing problems

Demonstrable experience with TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, TCP, HTTP), general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting

Demonstrable track record learning new technologies, applying new skills, and sharing with peers and customers

What you will do in this position

Own design and engineering of new solutions through the entire lifecycle [Proof-of-Concept -> Pilot to Minimal-Viable-Product -> Adoption -> Enhancement -> Retirement]

Lead design, engineering, and adoption efforts that deliver engineering patterns, processes, and technologies including MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and other platforms running on both private & public cloud platforms

Lead technical teams - using systems and design thinking - through complex problem solving and convey potential solutions to both peers and customers

Support decision making for project design tasks related to open source data platforms

Lead work streams that define and execute projects and system implementations; work across multiple efforts simultaneously

Deliver written and verbal communication for project status updates and SCRUM standups

Provide Subject-Matter-Expert level consulting and advisory services to L3 data platform engineers

Present new technologies and analysis to internal governance bodies, determine best action plans for engineering design and implementation projects that meet Humana business and risk management requirements
