HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Security System Administrator to work out of their San Antonio, TX office.The PACER Security System Administrator role will focus on the configuration management and information security of the environment. The Security System Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the security solutions for the infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
Installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the PACER Service Center (PSC) applications which reside on RedHat Linux host servers including databases (such as Informix), data query/retrieval programs, 3rd party reporting tools (such as Crystal Reports and Business Objects), and systems administration utilities;
Developing templates and implementing standard configurations for the PSC virtual environment.
Administering routine hardware and maintenance, database upkeep, and application software installation and tuning; system troubleshooting and end-user support relative to supported applications and associated operating systems;
Ensuring all servers are configured as per the approved configuration (Windows Server 2016 vs. RHEL 6.x/7.x Linux);
Standing up new servers using clones of current systems or using the approved standard configuration;
Ensuring all systems are on current patch levels, and have the correct security settings (OS security tightening) in place.
Analyzing and monitoring systems to diagnose and correct errors in logic and coding.
Ensure timely resolution to vulnerability scan results within timelines associated with risk impact
Ensure timely remediations to findings resulting from security assessments for assigned systems levels.
Ensure timely creation and maintenance of plans of actions and milestones (POA&Ms) within CSAM.
Qualifications and Experience :
Knowledge of Red Hat Linux 6.x and 7.x system administration, performance tuning, security and management principles and practices. RHCSA, RHEL & RHCA Training/Certification is preferred.
Red Hat Satellite Server 6.x.
Demonstrated experience with developing and maintaining configuration management at a systems level.
Custom software update management including RPM builds.
Knowledge of developing programming languages and techniques utilizing HTML, Perl, Bourne shell, and developing, administering, and tuning Informix databases.
Ability to communicate with various levels of computer users and management both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of web server administration including Apache 2.x and Tomcat 8.x.
Basic Knowledge of VMware ESXi 6.x and virtual server architectures and the use of cloud technologies.
Basic Knowledge of Vmware Update Manager.
Basic networking skills set (NTP, routing concepts, firewalls).
Demonstrated experience with hardware maintenance of servers and PCs.
Familiarity with the following tools is a plus: Nagios, Subversion, Jenkins, Tripwire, Veeam 9.x, Ansible, CSAM, and Wireshark.
CompTIA Security Certification or a solid knowledge foundation in its core curricula –
Threats, Attacks, and Vulnerabilities - detecting various types of compromise and understanding penetration testing and vulnerability scanning concepts
Technologies and Tools - installing, configuring, and deploying network components while assessing and troubleshooting issues to support organizational security
Architecture and Design - implementing secure network architecture concepts and systems design
Identity and Access Management - installing and configuring identity and access services, as well as management controls
Risk Management – implementing security risk management best practices
Cryptography – knowledge of cryptography principles and implementation best practices
