Description

Humana's Mission:

At Humana, we're dedicated to improving the health outcomes of every person we serve. We believe everyone should have equitable access to the tools and support they need to be as healthy as possible -- support that's personalized and easy to use. Our team is at the forefront of leading Humana's mission, and we are reimagining Health Care for the better.

Team Landscape:

As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you have a unique opportunity to contribute and work with some of the best in the software field while you improve health outcomes of every person. Our team is building new greenfield applications and modernizing some of the existing applications to the latest industry standards and best practices. We started this journey 2 years ago and have made a lot of new developments to our tech stack, which would be comparable to any modern technology company. Our company provides the stability of a large company, while giving a startup-like environment where you own your technology choices and decisions.

Humana Digital Health and Analytics is redefining how population health is managed, measured and implemented by providing The Platform for Population Wellness. By providing solutions and insights that support a more proactive, person-centric approach to care, we are powering a better care experience, giving people the freedom to make confident decisions, and helping to empower care teams, not tools, to improve the health and long-term wellness of populations.

Responsibilities

Technology Landscape:

All development is geared to cloud deployments. Our group primarily uses Azure, Springboot Microservices, NodeJS, .Net, Java, Kotlin, ReactJS, Redis, SQL, MongoDB, and Adobe Experience Manager to build intuitive and real-time user experiences, which allow our members to have easier access to healthcare services.

The Senior Software Engineer codes software applications based on business requirements. The Senior Software Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The ideal candidate for this position should have solid computer engineering foundations, with some experience of the full gamut of the software engineering lifecycle: requirement gathering, design proposals, implementation, testing and maintenance for the enhancement of both existing and new products & tools. The candidate will have familiar knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the software development process and will rely on limited experience and judgment to accomplish job goals.

The ideal candidate should feel comfortable working under some general direction of more experienced members of the team but to also accomplish tasks by using a certain degree of creativity and resourcefulness. The candidate should be a strong team player and be able to provide some technical direction to less experienced team members.

Due to the nature of our organization, we work in a high-pace and extremely collaborative Agile environment, thus the ability to engage your peers to propose, express and challenge ideas is extremely important; we emphasize the creation and self-maintenance of our documentation, so clarity in the candidate's ability to express ideas and concepts is required.
