Aon is looking for a System EngineerAs a System Engineer you will provide application support of our award-winning ELEMENTS catastrophe modeling platform and other internal software applications and APIs; Installs, configures, and tests application software, and system management tools; provide help in client-side deployments and troubleshooting, problem determination, workaround resolution, root cause analysis, major incident management, supervise and maintain all systems and servers, deployment of service releases, patches, requests and customizations.Oversee the constant availability of system resources.Troubleshooting server-side issues as they ariseSupport cloud-based, web-based and app-based software solutionsKnowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems and security.Submit and supervise Service-Now requests for Firewall requests, user management, File-Transfer applications and all other requests.EducationBachelor’s degree Information Technology/Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related business analysis/development field or equivalent experienceWork ExperienceMinimum of 4 years proven experience as System Engineer/AdministratorShift TimingsDay Shift 9AM-6PM; Desk job (travel may be required to meet with onshore project team, stakeholders/ clients. Might have to stretch beyond regular work hours at times.)Mandatory Skills & Knowledge Requirements: Solid understanding of SQL Server and query development and execution.Practical experience of Windows Server, Linux Server, IIS and basic networking.Experience with virtualization and containerization (Docker container applications)Solid understanding on AWS, Azure and other cloud deployments.Ability to diagnose & address Application issues/Operating system issues.Possess good analytical & debugging skillsGood communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all team membersMandatory Skills (Behavioral)Client management, teamwork and decision-making skills for working with multiple external partners;Good Presentation skill to connect with the clientsGood Analytical ability to understand the client issuesSelf-motivated and confident individual with a 'Can-do' attitude.Ability to communicate clearly and optimally (both verbal and written) and engage in technical discussions.Ability to demonstrate excellence. in delivering high quality and timely products to the clients through a small but highly skilled team.Awareness and teamwork with other team members assigned to a client, in particular:Demonstrate a dedication to providing excellent client service.Produce quality work with few errors. Complete tasks accurately. Develop the ability to double check own work and catch errors before passing on to others for review.Complete tasks on time or ahead of schedule; being conscious of timeline and expectations of clients and colleagues. Provide regular updates to manager on project status.Seek out work when not at full capacity, particularly when others are at or over capacityBeing aware of time spent on a project – complete it in the most professional, most efficient, the least time-consuming wayFollow up with questions and comments to leader to keep project moving on scheduleDesign work product with eye towards someone else sees it or needing to audit itFollow department processes including file-naming and network directory organization. Build a clear and detailed work product.Take ownership and responsibility for tasks, be driven independently and proactivelySupportive and patient when taking care of clients and colleaguesDiligently completes time trackingBalance multiple standard projects at one time.Observe, listen, and learn during client or internal meetings and calls.
