Summary of Duties
This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of user workstations and client management systems in locations supported by the Office of Distance Education & eLearning’s Learning Environments team on the Columbus and regional campuses; responsible for the development, deployment and support of system/base images and application packages with a focus on Windows systems and
; responsible for applying software updates, security and malware patches to maintain secure computing resources and remediation of related issues; provides expert level incident and problem management for classroom instructional technology and public computing facilities; responsible for maintenance and improvement of the Learning Environments documentation library(development, updating, archiving and distribution of materials); participates in the development, testing and implementation of improved classroom technologies/systems; assists in the maintenance of server and network infrastructure; contributes to the strategic plan for public computing resources at the Ohio State University; assists in the management of student employees; participates in the Change Management process and adheres to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (
) best practice framework.

Bachelor’s degree in computer and information science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2-4 years of experience with
or other client management systems; 3-5 years of experience managing Windows workstations in an enterprise environment; 1-3 years of experience managing OS X workstations in an enterprise environment; 2-4 years of experience with domain administration; proven record of exceptional customer service in a technical environment; experience with Apple OS X and/or or Microsoft Windows client and server operating systems; knowledge of enterprise services such as Active Directory, Group Policy,
; experience in software packaging and deployment; experience developing, testing and deploying desktop software images; knowledge of scripting languages and technologies (VBScript, Powershell, unix shell scripts).
