Job Description:

The Data Analyst is responsible for helping the business solve business problems using data. This may include identifying feasible solutions, contributing to new business models, or solving operational problems. Equally this role is about providing support to the business to further professionalize their MI / Analytic reporting platform, using the ESSA approach [Automate, Standardize, Simplify & Automate]

The Data Analyst gathers, analyses, models, and helps the business interpret data and key performance indicators to develop quantitative and qualitative business insights. This may involve the use of agile methods to achieve results with speed. The Data Analyst may develop processes and design reports to boost business intelligence within the organization and is capable of processing large amounts of data into meaningful information; the latter may involve using data visualization tools and techniques. The Data Analyst collects past and present data to create fit for purpose MI reports and is skilled in the use of various Analytical tools available within the organization and in the market.

Accountabilities

For focus business area, become deeply familiar with the data, data flows, and current value derived from the data. Become familiar with the business’ aspirations and goals related to future value extraction from their data and champion these ambitions.

For projects and enhancements, precisely capture functional and non-functional data requirements, including security, usability, performance, customer experience, and supportability considerations.

Translate business data requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.

Assess and model processes and data flows, using technology to understand the bottlenecks and identify opportunities for improvement.

Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle.

Ensure traceability of data requirements from inception through testing and deployment of the final solution

Interact with software suppliers, designers, Design Authorities, and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system design, and ensure that business data requirements and use cases are handled.

Create acceptance criteria and validate that solutions meet business needs through testing.

Create and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and establish approval, funding and prioritization.

Execute Data Analysis activities on projects within agreed parameters of cost, time and quality.

Understand and stay abreast of relevant architectures and technologies related to a business area.

Support stakeholder management activities including facilitation of large design sessions.

This role is the first such role in Chemicals IT, and therefore the person filling it will need to be comfortable with ambiguity as we establish this skillset in IT and establish ways of working with the Chemicals business.

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor's Degree related to Information Technology required.

Minimum five (5) years experience in corporate IT.

Understands and has knowledge with concepts such as Data Pipelining / Data Wrangling (data collection extraction and processing).

Knowledge of the technology landscape including current and future developments and the most commonly available products and integrated solutions.

Ability to take a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving, interpretation of the data.

Experience with analyzing the alignment between business requirements and system capabilities.

Proven knowledge of the Business Intelligence technologies and their relevant functions (reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, process mining, complex event processing, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics.)

Awareness on the Data Management Framework & practices, understands what is required to implement them effectively.

Understands and is experienced with Data Quality concepts including data cleansing

Awareness of Agile Framework and related tools such as Azure DevOps.

Certified Agile PO or Scrum-master preferred.

CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI - PBA certified preferred.

Technical Skills

​Knowledge of any statistical software (R, Python, Power BI, SAS, SPSS, etc)

Experience using any SAP technologies (SAP ECC/ERP, SAP BW, SAP HANA, SAP cloud, etc.)

Experience using any SQL-based technologies (e.g. MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc).

Experience with data blending technology (e.g. Alteryx, etc.)

Leadership Skills

Have strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with business at all levels.

Comfortable to work with global stakeholders, internally and externally.

Experience of working in a global business environment/different cultures.

Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.

Have strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with business at all levels.
