As part of the Business Unit IT United States team, this new role will lead the IT Application Development and support group for the US Gas business units. This role will report directly to the Director, Business Unit IT US.
This position will be a leadership level position that will be responsible for developing a high-performance team with other managers in their reporting structure. It will be a site level leader in Houston but also include teams in other locations. The candidate must have experience leading managers and teams with a proven track record of results.
The Business Unit IT US team has a passionate focus on innovation and extending the business capabilities of our business partners and systems through the application of technology. We believe that the value of IT services is in making our business partners safer, more efficient and more creative in the tasks they need to perform every day. Our goal is to ensure that the business people who understand the problems and opportunities they face, can connect with the IT people that know the data and the technology, to create a valuable portfolio of high-return IT projects. This new Manager role will be at the forefront of leading this work.
As such, this exciting new role will be responsible for identifying US Gas business needs, prioritizing those with the business, developing creative and innovative plans to address these needs and ensuring these needs are reflected in a comprehensive plan. This will include managing the portfolio of applications for the business unit to keep them current to the business needs as well as maintaining technical currency. As an experienced leader with IT and Application Development expertise, the position will ensure the resulting projects, maintenance and production support tasks are delivered on schedule, within the approved budget and to high-levels of customer satisfaction.
*Collaborates with business partners to identify and implement innovative solutions; *Works across the IT department to deliver results for the business *Leads the Business Unit IT Application Development and Support team which includes providing direction, monitoring progress against metrics, providing feedback, coaching and support, identifying training and development opportunities, resolving performance issues and ensuring effective succession planning; *Ensure Developers, Business Systems Analysts, Change Management, Solution Architects and other roles are appropriately planned; *Develop strong strategic alignment with US Gas Pipelines business units; *Develop and monitor annual department operating budgets and project execution budgets; *Some travel within Canada, US and Mexico may be required; *Other tasks as required.
Qualifications and Education
*Creative thinker with a strong interest and proven record for innovation, application development and maintenance; *Strong customer focus; *Excellent interpersonal skills, works collaboratively with functional, cross-functional, multi-location and technical teams to build effective working relationships; *Results-oriented with strong identification and initiation of continuous improvement opportunities and the ability to manage change; *Strategic mindset with experience in managing many initiatives with strong execution and implementation skills; *Demonstrates initiative and makes sound judgement to effectively resolve issues; *Strong written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy; *Accountable to meet commitments while consistently delivering results within required timelines; *Proven systems thinker with strong analytical, process and problem resolution skills; *Demonstrated success in building, leading, motivating and empowering high performing teams; *Ability to leverage data and analytics effectively to manage metrics; *Ability to deal with confidential information and materials.
*Undergraduate degree in Business, Computer Science or related field is required; *Minimum 15 years of related work experience; *Proven leadership experience in applications development; *Commercial Gas Industry knowledge preferred but not required; *Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint; SAP knowledge a plus
