Our client, a Fortune 500 Financial company, has an immediate need for a SQL Server Developer/Analyst at it's corporate facility in downtown Seattle, Wa.

Indexes SQL Server developer/Analyst
Duration:
6-12 months, with likelihood to go a year and possibly longer
Rate:
$55/hour
Responsibilities:
This assignment will be focused on support, maintenance and enhancement of Indexes' data warehouse environment. This SQL Server (currently 2005) database environment stores calculated index values, constituents and related data for publishing, reporting, and analytics purposes. A series of functions and stored procedures are used with SQL Agent and SSIS jobs for ETL and data consolidation. SSRS reporting is used to produce internal and client-facing materials.
This assignment will include development of complex SQL, stored procedures and SSIS packages in support of client service, operations, product development and research. This individual will also be expected to create business and functional requirements documents, prepare system maintenance documentation, prepare test plans and execute testing and data validation. The selected resource will work under the guidance of a technical lead and a solution owner.
Required skills and experience:
SQL Server 2005 development skills including SQL Agent, SSIS, and T-SQL
Understanding of data-focused business environments, data warehousing concepts and ETL solutions
Creation and maintenance of technical documentation
Business analysis skills including eliciting, documenting and communicating product/solution requirements, liaising with business users and IT, and test planning and execution
Problem-solving ability, independent initiative, and quick, self-driven learner
Initiative, able to work autonomously when required
Ability to manage priorities and re-negotiate if necessary
Ability to multi-task and exceptional organizational abilities
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective working relationships across a matrixed environment
Ability to write and speak clearly and understandably
Preferred skills and experience:
MCTS/MCSE certification
Query and database performance analysis and tuning
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field
Experience as a DBA
Experience in the investment management industry or data provision to the investment community
Knowledge of Global and US equity indexes
