Humana is rapidly evolving from an insurance company with elements of health to a healthcare company with elements of insurance. We are embarking on an ambitious journey to implement a new Member Administration Platform and further our evolution towards a customer-centric operating model. As a member of the Member Administration Platform team you will help us transform our enrollment process and ensure the highest level of care for our customers. This team will have a large focus on technology modernization but also a focus on culture and operations - to embrace modern cloud-based technologies and engineering, agile ways of working & Agile methodologies, Devops, and a culture that is focused on enterprise leadership, our customers and our associates.

The Member Administration Platform Senior Scrum Master coordinates an agile development team, ensures all activities use the principles of the Scrum Framework. The Senior Scrum Master work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Scrum Master is an inclusive leader who has a primary responsibility to help the self-organizing, self-managing team achieve its goals. The Scrum Master facilitates the scrum process, protects the team from interference, and removes obstacles so that the team can deliver the sprint goal, all while coaching and leveling-up the team members to be as high performing as their structure allows. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Positively reinforces an agile mindset, practices, and skills to teams and individuals; provides clarity, new learnings, and fosters maturation

Drives adoption of agile practices, techniques, and frameworks, reducing the gap between agile theory and practice.

Develops, tracks and monitors agile metrics on things that impact value driven delivery and indicate potential problems, assisting teams in implementing solutions to those problems.

Guide the team and organization on how to use scrum & Agile practices and methodologies

Oversee scrum process and coaches the team; facilitates transparency, inspection and adaptation

Lead daily scrum, sprint review, and planning meetings in a way that ensures full team engagement

Support Product Owner on release planning

Foster close cooperation across all team members, encourage cross-training and supporting each other

Shield the team from external interference and ensure the team is fully functional and productive

Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of punishment

Identifies organizational impediments to successful agile transformation and works with the leadership team to create effective strategies to overcome them.

Fosters an environment of mutual respect and cooperation, transparency, autonomy, agility, learning, innovation, quality and speed of execution.

Manages conflict among people and situations while recognizing and addressing sensitivities, reducing barriers and increasing communication to assure collaboration and joint action.

Collaborates with teams to assess the overall health of their agile practices and identify improvement opportunities.

Builds solid working relationships and utilize effective negotiation and persuasion skills in working across the organizations.

Strongly serving and supporting the Product Owner and Development Team in their quest to do everything possible to deliver high value product with quality to customers especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog.

Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example. This person should personify Scrum and Agile.

Guiding and Coaching the Scrum Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values

Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization

Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.

Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.

Required Qualifications

SAFe Scrum Master certification

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

5 years of technical experience

3 years of experience executing agile projects in large, complex environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of agile values, principles, and practices.

Strong facilitation and communication skills.

Strong Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Effective leadership and negotiation skills.

Enthusiastic and maintains a positive, high-energy attitude.

Ability to operate autonomously while also working well within a team environment.

Ability to assess, measure and communicate progress against defined goals.

Ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence and integrity.

Highly efficient in coaching the formation of a well-refined and prioritized backlog.

Advanced knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban development methodology

Working knowledge of Agile Tools Azure DevOps and JIRA

Previous experience on large scale projects

Prior insurance operations background

Technical documentation abilities

Advanced knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban development methodology

Working knowledge of Agile Project Management Tools

Scrum Master certification

Previous experience planning and managing large projects

Prior experience in the health solutions industry

Working experience with IT teams
