Profile

The Manager of Information Systems and Architecture manages, architects, and continually develops and supports all server, storage, disaster recovery, business continuity, and other backend systems at the University.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Architect, upgrade, maintain, and support server systems
o Virtual Infrastructure
o Microsoft Server Systems
o Microsoft Exchange e-mail and Lync messaging systems.
o Remote server access
o Server hardware including Blade Server systems and enclosures
* Architect, upgrade, maintain, and support storage systems
o Storage Area Network and Network Attached Storage Systems
o Backup systems including client and server, vaulting, disk, and tape backups.
o Communication Archiving Systems
* Systems Security
o Communication System Security including anti-spam and anti-phishing systems
o Ensure appropriate updates and patches are installed
o Maintain and Audit compliance with security standards and policies for all responsible systems
* Architect, upgrade, maintain, and support Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for all responsible systems
* Create and maintain Best Practices, Documentation, and Reports for all responsible systems
o Continuously strive to maintain 24/7 uptime and ubiquitous availability
o Continuously strive to maintain a 4-hour response window and 6 hour response-to-repair time.
* Assist senior management in strategic decisions related to information technology
* Other relevant responsibilities as deemed necessary by supervisor or senior management.
Requirements:
* Bachelor*s degree in computer science or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience is required. An advanced degree in Computer Science is preferred.
* Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server systems is required.
* Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and IIS is required.
* Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange is required
* Advanced working knowledge of enterprise SAN system is required, experience with Netapp preferred
* Working knowledge of enterprise backup systems required, experience with NetBackup preferred
* Advanced working knowledge of server virtualization required, experience with VMware vSphere preferred
* Advanced working knowledge of server, blade server, backup, rack, PDU, and UPS hardware required, experience with Cisco UCS and HP servers, Quantum backup libraries, and Liebert systems preferred.
* In-depth experience working in a datacenter environment required.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server is desired
* Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is desired
* Working knowledge of and Lync/Communicator is desired
* Working knowledge of Linux server systems is desired
* Working knowledge of Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp systems is desired
* Working knowledge of Cloud computing a plus
* Experience with NOC design and organization is desired
* Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity systems and sites desired.
* Strong understanding of server, virtualization, and SAN system issues, problems, utilities, techniques, and solutions.
* Excellent skills in troubleshooting and monitoring required.
* Effective project management skills and practices; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally in writing is required. Customer service experience is a plus.
* Ability to define and negotiate purchases and maintenance and support contracts.
* High level of integrity and excellent judgment concerning privacy issues.
* Supervisory and/or management experience highly desirable.
Additional Information:
This position is
on-call 24/7
and is required to carry a smartphone at all times.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Serves as supervisor to two employees; a Senior Systems Support Technician and a Systems Support Technician.
