Data Center Operations Engineers work together with staff around the globe to support, manage and maintain the technical infrastructure lifecycle for the business. Engineers plan, coordinate, and develop deployment plans for office IT spaces and datacenter worldwide. Working with vendors and IT staff, engineers support and maintain the operating infrastructure by responding to incidents and requests for service. Engineers grow the IT infrastructure while coordinating hardware installs, repairs and shipments along with completing other IT requests made by global IT teams. Engineers help manage the IT lifecycle by forecasting growth trends, space/power requirements and provide recommendations for growth.
You will be responsible for:
Monitoring and maintaining physical security systems
Management of IT projects regarding construction / expansions
Coordinating upgrades, repairs and other tasks with providers / building management
Documenting infrastructure and service contract management
Collaborating with IT experts to develop, maintain and enforce company-wide IT standards
Respond to IT requests for service/support in all datacenters and office technical spaces
Manage and maintain inventories of hardware and spare parts
Travel between datacenters and offices in the Chicago area as necessary
You are someone who will have:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an IT related field
Bachelor’s degree in information system or related field preferred
Strong organizational skills as well as ability to multitask
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds
Reliable transportation is a requirement
