The Staff SRE, Managed Data Services will be part of a new and exciting team that is responsible for building a data services framework to bring managed data services to VMware vSphere platform. The framework will be used by partners and VMware to build, integrate and deliver various data services on vSphere that operate at high reliability and performance at scale with minimum human touch for our customers.ResponsibilitiesYou will be joining the team at an exciting time and will help craft the solution and drive customer adoption. By joining our team, you will be responsible for driving new vSphere Premises Services portfolio and all aspects of it from incubation, to implementation, to performance tuning. This includes crafting and developing software solutions that meets the critical requirements for service monitoring, auto remediation, measuring availability/reliability, performance, service analytics and security. You will implement proper metrics to measure service quality and performance and to ensure optimal results are achieved when deployed on standard vSphere instances. You will support the partner and VMware development teams with new feature, services, releases requests and become an authority on the managed services Offering.The work will include working with early adopters where you will work along with our implementation partners in understanding the customer requirements, defining the vSphere cluster setup and help implementing the managed app/DB solution for a successful preview/GA. Once the customer goes live with the solution, you will work in close coordination and collaboration with the partner and GSS teams to handle customer escalations and hot issues. As the SRE lead, you will act as the lead problem solver to drive critical managed data services customer escalations/incidents and you’d be expected to lead the resolution effort by driving engineering team and coordinating with the partner SRE and VMware GSS teams to overcome the technical challenges and situations our customers face. You are the single point of control of the incident and should be working closely with the development manager who owns the issue. You must excel at situational appraisal, problem analysis, troubleshooting methodologies and have the authority and confidence to demand actions from development teams as well as partner and GSS and have excellent communication skills while doing so.
